Wir blgogn ... hmmm ... noch

After Cora´s beautiful and unexpected comeback to the Dochnoch dimension I feel the need to contribute, even though there is not so much new. I am steadily worming myself towards my university degrees. They have been the summit I have strived for these last few years, and simultaneously, the end of the secure line. This autumn I will be writing one B.A.-thesis in philosophy and one M.A.-thesis in law. Hopefully, in febuary I will shake the hand of a few professors and walk out of that institution with a totally different head than the one I came in with.
I´m going to enjoy this last project. I have always wanted to dress up in a tweed jacket with leather patches on the elbows, smoke pipe, grow a beard – which might prove to be the hardest part for me - for scratching while using elaborate words followed by many hmmmm´s, and generally just pretend to be a scholar for half a year. Since I can do all of that anywhere, I see no point in staying here in Iceland (where it would be hard to fake it sufficiently to get into the right mood). I will leave in September, look for a place to stay and start writing. Among the options are Berlin, Porto, Barcelona, Rennes, Polynesia and Soria Moria Castle. Any ideas? Hmmmm?

This summer I have been working on a legal project for the city of Reykjavík, along with some freelance scriptwriting for commercials. I´ve been way too busy, but that´s about to change. Next Monday I leave for Hornstrandir, which is the most remote part of Iceland, completely uninhabited – except for a few abandoned farms turned into summer houses and most probably some neo-hippie-eco-continental- Europeans in igloo tents. After that: Jochen, Laura, Flo, Lisa, Coretta and Ariela are coming!!! I can´t wait to take you all around.
Last weekend I made a trip with some friends over Fimmvörðuháls pass, between the glaciers Mýrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull, in an area very close to where we will probably be hiking (for those of you coming). We got quite good weather in the beginning and the end of the walk, but midway tight fog crept up from everywhere as the pictures show. Still, it was beautiful and ... hmmmm ... unexpected.

Strangely enough I still miss all of you.
